Grindkonstruktionen f\u00f6r en viss applikation omfattar val av grindtyp, dimensioner och placering. Den styrs av detalj- och formkonstruktionen, detaljspecifikationerna (t.ex. utseende, tolerans, koncentricitet), typen av material som ska gjutas, fyllmedlen, typen av formplattor och ekonomiska faktorer (t.ex. verktygskostnad, cykeltid, till\u00e5ten skrotvolym).
